Jan Ayton

My current work explores themes of journey patterns and migration in a response to the emotional and difficult journeys made by displaced people around the world. I use Greek classical sculpture as a starting point to symbolise the experience of odyssey and dislocation, suggesting the changes surrounding the human condition to create an inner resonance and to open up new possibilities and dialogues.

I gained a BA in Fine Art (Printmaking and Photo-Media) at Central Saint Martins in London and an MA in Printmaking at Anglia Ruskin University. I am currently living in Cambridge, with a studio at Cambridge Artworks - my practise incorporates screen printing, photography and collage making unique and limited print editions. I have exhibited locally and throughout the UK.
